Cologne

Cologne, a 2,000-year-old city in western Germany spanning the Rhine River, is the region's cultural center. The twin-spired Cologne Cathedral is a landmark of High Gothic architecture set amid a reconstructed old town. With 1.1 million inhabitants, it is the largest city in the western German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and the fourth-most populous city in Germany.
