Grand Central Terminal has been named a National Historic Landmark and is one of the most visited tourist attractions in New York City. First opened to the public on February 2, 1913, the terminal was built by Cornelius Vanderbilt II and designed by architect Henry Hobson Richardson. With 44 platforms and 67 tracks, Grand Central Terminal is the largest train station in the world by number of platforms.
