Thessaloniki Greece (or Salonica), the capital of Macedonia Prefecture, is the second largest city in Greece, after Athens. In fact, the town is honorarily called co-capital, for its historical and administrative importance. The history of the town started in ancient times and due to its strategic location, it played an important economic and political role in the wider region of the Balkans.

  1. The White Tower of Thessaloniki is a monument and museum on the waterfront of the city of Thessaloniki, capital of the region of Macedonia in northern Greece. White Tower has been adopted as the symbol of the city.

  2. Giant monument depicting lauded Ancient Greek ruler Alexander III of Macedonia on a rearing horse. It is an impressive, six meters (20 ft.) tall monument that represents Alexander while riding his horse “Voukefalas” (Bucephalus), one of the most famous actual horses of antiquity.

  3. The "Umbrellas" is an impressive work of art by the famous sculptor Giorgios Zoggolopoulos and is one of the attractions in Thessaloniki that catches the attention of every visitor. Centrally located along Nea Paralia you’ll be charmed by its commanding presence and large size (the umbrellas are 13 meters tall and give the impression that they reach the sky).

  4. A great place for walking on the seafront offering great views of the sea and the city of Thessaloniki.

  5. The Destroyer Velos D-16 is a floating museum dedicated to the Greek people's resistance against the military junta and is currently one of the two floating museums owned by the Hellenic Navy.

  6. Thessaloniki Concert Hall opened in year 2000 in order to satisfy the need of the city for a venue that could house not only artistic, but also various other activities. It was built along the coast of the city, near the Posidonio Athletic Center of Thessaloniki, in an area which was donated from the Greek State.
